Padding, and what it is not
Impact-absorbing pads are built into the shoulders and elbows — the two zones that hit the road first. They are sewn in rather than inserted in pockets, so they stay in position instead of shifting.
These are not CE-certified armor. The trade-off is flexibility: the pads move with you and do not add the bulk of hard CE inserts. Riders who want certified impact protection add an armored base layer underneath.
Why grey
Every second jacket at a bike meet is black. Grey carries the same cut and the same construction without announcing itself, which is why it works for commuting — you arrive looking like someone in a leather jacket, not someone who just got off a bike.
