Why a round matte buckle
A round buckle reads softer than a squared one, and a matte finish catches less light than polished metal — so the belt stays quiet under a jacket instead of drawing the eye. It goes with black shoes without matching them exactly, and it will not date the way a branded buckle does.
Jeans or tailoring
At 38–40 mm the belt fits the loops on both denim and tailored trousers. Wider belts jam in the narrow loops of suit trousers; narrower belts look lost in jeans. This width goes through both, which is why it covers the office and the weekend without a second belt.

Care
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Apply leather conditioner two or three times a year to keep the black deep. Store flat or rolled, without sharp folds, and let it dry away from direct heat if it gets wet.

What kind of buckle does it have? A round buckle with a matte finish, no branding or logo. Matte metal does not catch the light the way polished buckles do, which keeps it understated with both jeans and tailoring.
How do I choose the right belt size? Use your usual trouser waist size, or measure a belt he already wears from the buckle fold to the most-used hole. We also cut to a specific measurement on request.
What does 38–40 mm width mean in practice? It is the standard width that fits the belt loops on most jeans, chinos and trousers. Wider belts can jam in the narrow loops of tailored trousers.
What is the difference between full grain and genuine leather? Full grain is the outermost layer of the hide with the natural grain intact. "Genuine leather" is a grade below, usually split and coated, which is why it cracks and peels. Full grain develops a patina instead.
Can I wear this belt with a suit? Yes. Black full grain with a matte buckle is formal enough for tailoring and plain enough for jeans, which is the point of a single black belt.
Will the black fade? Full grain black leather deepens rather than fades with conditioning. Fold points lighten slightly over years of wear, which is normal to the material.
