Why holes along the full length

A standard belt has five holes near the end, spaced about 25 mm apart. If your waist sits between two of them, the belt is either slightly loose or slightly tight — there is no third option. And if your weight shifts over a year, you run out of holes.

Holes along the entire strap remove both problems. The belt adjusts anywhere, which also means it works worn low on the hips or high at the natural waist without the buckle ending up off-centre.

The look

The perforation catches light along the whole strap, so the belt has texture where a plain one is flat. It reads as deliberate and worked rather than minimal — which is why it suits denim, workwear and casual trousers more than a suit.

Why full grain

Full grain is the outer layer of the hide with the grain intact. Corrected and bonded leather is sanded and coated, which is why it cracks at the fold within two years — and punched holes accelerate that on cheap leather, because each hole is a weak point. Full grain holds its structure around every punch.

Measure a belt he already wears, from the buckle fold to the hole he uses most. That measurement in inches is his belt size — not his trouser waist, which runs smaller.

Care

Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Apply leather conditioner two or three times a year, working it gently around the punched holes where the edges can dry out.
