Why 45 mm
Most belts are 38 mm because that fits every loop on every trouser made. At 45 mm this one is deliberately wider — it fills the loops on jeans and workwear properly, and it holds its line across the waist instead of disappearing under a shirt hem.
It also sits in proportion on a larger frame, where a narrow strap can look undersized. Check the loops on tailored trousers before ordering: suit trousers sometimes have narrower loops that a 45 mm strap will not pass through.
Embossed, not printed
The pattern is pressed into genuine full-grain hide rather than applied as a surface coating. Printed finishes rub away at the fold points within a year and leave the belt looking cheap; embossing is part of the leather and stays, deepening as the surface darkens with wear.
Why texture rather than plain
A plain black belt disappears — which is fine, and also the reason most men own three identical ones. Texture gives the belt presence without colour or hardware doing the work, and on a 45 mm strap there is more surface for it to show on.
The silver rectangular buckle
Rectangular is the classic proportion — wider than it is tall, which suits a wide strap. Silver keeps it formal; the texture and the width keep it from being anonymous.
Why full grain
Full grain is the outer layer of the hide with the grain intact. Corrected and bonded leather is sanded and coated, which is why it cracks at the fold within two years. Full grain darkens and softens instead, keeping both its shape and the embossed texture.
How to choose his size
Measure a belt he already wears, from the buckle fold to the hole he uses most. That measurement in inches is his belt size — not his trouser waist, which runs smaller.

Engraving is included at no cost: initials, a name, a date or a logo — on the inside of the strap where only the wearer sees it, or on the outside if you prefer. The 45 mm width gives more room for a longer inscription than a standard belt.

Care
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Apply leather conditioner two or three times a year, working it gently into the embossed texture so the recesses do not dry out. Avoid soaking in water.

Will a 45 mm belt fit my trouser loops? It fits the loops on jeans, chinos and workwear. Some tailored suit trousers have narrower loops — check before ordering if you plan to wear it with a suit.
Why choose a wider belt? A 45 mm strap holds its line across the waist and sits in proportion on a larger frame, where a narrow belt can look undersized. It also gives the embossed texture more surface to show on.
Will the texture wear off? No. It is pressed into full-grain hide rather than applied to a coating, so it stays visible and deepens as the leather ages.

What is the difference between full grain and genuine leather? Full grain is the outermost layer of the hide with the natural grain intact. "Genuine leather" is a grade below, usually split and coated, which is why it cracks and peels.
