Smooth full-grain brown shows its history more than black does. It darkens where you handle it and lightens at the fold where the buckle sits, so after a year the belt looks like yours rather than like one from a batch.
The silver rectangular buckle
Rectangular is the classic dress proportion — wider than it is tall, so it sits flat against the waistband. Silver against brown is the sharper of the two traditional pairings, where brass reads warmer and more heritage.
Why full grain
Full grain is the outer layer of the hide with the grain intact. Corrected and bonded leather is sanded and coated, which is why it cracks at the fold within two years. Full grain darkens and softens instead, keeping its shape.

Thirty-eight millimetres fits the belt loops on almost every pair of jeans, chinos and tailored trousers made. Wider belts jam in narrow loops on suit trousers; narrower ones look lost in denim.

Care
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Apply leather conditioner two or three times a year. Avoid soaking in water; if it gets wet, let it dry away from direct heat.
